Figured it was getting a little off topic for the other thread so I figured I would start a new one for ya.
To answer your question, I just had my surgery last week and it was done without anesthesia. My surgery was done at Yale-New Haven Hospital and was done with a sedative and a local. They will use anesthesia if needed but they prefer going with the sedative and local.
