Poll:Symptoms worse at any particular time of the day?

Postby Admin » 15 Jul 2012, 15:02

Nancy has just reminded me of a medical paper which states that blood calcium levels are naturally higher in the evening.
I found that at 7-8pm my muscle pain seemed to switch on around that time.

Thought I'd set up a poll to see if anyone else has noticed this effect.

Simon,
The aches and pains are worse in the evening but also around 12N the weak, sick anxious feeling starts.
I have noticed that if I eat very litttle one day the next day I feel better.
I don't know if the temporary ease in symptoms is coming from a drop in calcium, PTH or phospherous.

My symptoms seem to turn on like a switch right around 2:30 PM. I'm feeling fine one minute, and then this wave of fatigue and bone pain hits. Sometimes it's so bad I worry about driving and so I try to get home before that time.

Ditalini,
When your symptoms start, do you also expereince any anxiety or sense of impending doom?
I have to agree with you, once this starts it's a fast onset.

I'd like to know if it means calcium is going up or PTH level.

Hi, Nancy, I don't know if it's PTH or calcium levels.

I experienced the anxiety and major depressive episodes at night when I'd wake up. They were often accompanied by a racing heart and night sweats. These got much worse when I took the Dr. prescribed Vit D. I quit taking the Vit D, avoid sunlight, and use sunscreen and cover up when I go out. That seems to have taken care of those problems for me.

For me, it seemed to be the Vit D, which would make the calcium levels rise.

Ditallini,
I read similar comments from people last summer when I was on another message board. People were complaining about how they felt after being out in the sun. Also, some people actually were avoiding "greens".

I told one man "we can't live with the sun and we can't live without it".

I understand why you are reluctant to take vit D. I am not taking any extra calcium. I have backed down or quit vit D for now because I have been out in the sun quite a bit. I guess I'll try adding some back in soon and seeing how it goes. Overall my symptoms are getting worse.

On Dr. Norman's site he states it's not the "elevation" but the "duration" that's the problem.

Hi Everyone,

I have not been diagnosed primary HPT yet. I was diagnosed with secondary HPT 2-1/2 years ago. I still think I do have primary, and I am hoping it will be diagnosed very soon. I do, however, have most of the symptoms, including severe chronic muscle cramps, joint pain, tendon pain, and bone pain. I would have to say that my symptoms are usually worse at night. There are some days when it doesn't seem to matter what time of the day or night it is, but usually they are worse at night.

I also wake up with horrible depression episodes. It's like every awful thing I can possibly think of runs through my mind, causing my chest to burn and making me feel like the world is coming to an end! These episodes only last a minute or 2, and then they pass, but they happen very often. Considering I wake up many, many times a night, and these happen when I wake up, I have quite a few of them. I don't have them every time I wake up though, thank goodness! I never realized these episodes could be a symptom of the HPT. I keep learning more and more on this forum. Again, so happy I found it!
